Spiced Onion Pakoras

Crispy, golden-brown fritters made from thinly sliced onions, gram flour, and aromatic spices, perfect as a savory appetizer to start the meal.

Steps

1. In a mixing bowl, combine the thinly sliced onions, chopped green chili, cumin seeds, turmeric, red chili powder, garam masala, salt, and coriander leaves. 2. Add gram flour to the mixture and mix well. 3. Gradually add water little by little to form a thick batter that coats the onions but is not too runny. 4. Heat oil in a deep frying pan over medium heat. 5. Drop spoonfuls of the batter into the hot oil, frying a few pakoras at a time without overcrowding. 6. Fry until golden brown and crispy, about 3-4 minutes per batch, turning occasionally. 7. Remove pakoras with a slotted spoon and drain on paper towels. 8. Serve hot with chutney or ketchup.
