Whole Wheat Pita Bread

A soft and fluffy whole wheat pita bread that's perfect for sandwiches or dipping. Made with simple ingredients, this homemade pita is a healthy alternative packed with fiber.

Steps

1. In a small bowl, dissolve the yeast and honey in warm water. Let it sit for 5 minutes until frothy. 2. In a mixing bowl, combine whole wheat flour and salt. 3. Add the yeast mixture and olive oil to the flour. Mix until a dough forms. 4. Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 8 minutes until smooth and elastic. 5. Place the dough in a lightly oiled bowl, cover, and let it rise for 1 hour or until doubled in size. 6. Preheat the oven to 230°C (450°F) and place a baking stone or tray inside. 7. Punch down the dough and divide it into two equal pieces. Roll each piece into a 15cm (6 inch) circle. 8. Place the dough rounds on parchment paper and bake on the hot stone or tray for 5-6 minutes until they puff up and lightly brown. 9. Remove from oven and cool slightly before serving.
