Crispy Golden Puri

Light and airy deep-fried Indian bread made from wheat flour, perfect for scooping up curries or chutneys. Quick to prepare and irresistibly puffed.

Steps

1. In a mixing bowl, combine whole wheat flour, semolina, salt, and baking powder. 2. Add 2 tbsp oil and mix well until the mixture resembles breadcrumbs. 3. Gradually add warm water and knead into a smooth, stiff dough. 4. Cover the dough with a damp cloth and let it rest for 15 minutes. 5. Divide the dough into small lemon-sized balls. 6. Roll each ball into a 4-inch diameter circle, not too thin. 7. Heat oil in a deep frying pan over medium-high heat. 8. Once hot, gently slide a puri into the oil; it should puff up immediately. 9. Press gently with a slotted spoon to encourage puffing. 10. Fry until golden brown on both sides, then drain on paper towels. 11. Serve hot with your favorite curry or chutney.
